USTelecom has unveiled our latest Broadband Now vidcast - our video series talking about how broadband benefits consumers in everything from health care, to education, to the environment, to entertainment.
This edition focuses on entertainment - specificially video games and online gaming. As you may know, videos games aren't just fun and games - they're big business today. U.S. sales of video games, from connected consoles to PC games, topped $25 billion in 2007, and are the fastest growing segment of the entertainment industry. Online games - often in the form of massively multiplayer online games - are a big part of that growth. Blizzard Entertainment, the maker of category leader "World of Warcraft," brought in a cool $1.2 billion in 2007, mostly from monthly $15 subscriptions.
