No "Car Czar" After All
February 16, 2009
Written by: Pat Cleary
Looks like the President has decided against appointing a "car czar" to oversee the auto bailout after all. In his/her place will be a team of folks assisted by former United Steelworkers union guy Ron Bloom. Here's a copy of a speech Bloom made at a bankruptcy conference a few years back, provides a pretty good window to his thinking.
[UPDATE 4 pm] Here's a link to a piece entitled, "Labor's Man Joins Treasury Team" by Bill Greider. It's meant to be a paean, but not sure the title nor the description of Bloom therein will make everyone feel warm 'n fuzzy....
