Friday Follies: 'Freeze!'
March 21, 2008
Written by: Pat Cleary
This one made the rounds a few weeks ago, a prank involving 207 people at bustling Grand Central Station in New York City. At the same agreed-upon moment -- all at different places walking through Grand Central -- the pranksters froze in place. One is tying his shoes, a couple holding hands is in mid-stride, a man drops a stack of papers, a woman eats a banana. But they are frozen. The reaction from the rest of the crowd is one of shock and intrigue. And then, after two minutes, they all just calmly go about their business, to the delight and applause of the victims of the hoax, the assembled multitude. Hey, even New Yorkers enjoy a good prank. Fuggettaboutit!
