Manufacturers: Investment Leads the Way

Interesting -- if a little snarky -- story in today's WaPo about Wright Manufacturing in Frederick, Maryland, site of a Presidential visit and an attendee at the bill singing for the stimulus package.
Here's what the President had to say when he went to visit Wright, maker of serious lawn mowers:
"Let me tell you why I'm here...This man started his own business. He's a manufacturer, he employs over a hundred people, and he represents the backbone of the American economy... He bought some equipment and made his firm more productive, kept him in business. And that's the same spirit that needs to be in this next growth package."
Of course, for everyone who fears a recession (and some folks seem determined to talk us into one), we need only remember that it was investment that led us out of every recession before now -- one reason not to let the tax cuts expire.
So here's to Wright Manufacturing for growing a company from a germ of innovation -- and investment -- what manufacturers do in this country every day.
