Worker anxiety demands Answers

Today's contests in Ohio and Texas shine a spotlight on economic woes and opportunities for workers.
These two states reflect very different circumstances for workers. Candidates are debating the best economic
plans for boosting the economy.
Business Roundtable has a solid plan that will address worker anxiety in the international economy. Right now
workers who are displaced through trade are eligible for Trade Adjustment Assistance. We feel that all workers,
regardless of why they lose their jobs should get help to support their transition to a new job. They need educational assistance, job placement, health care assistance, and other practical support systems. These programs should be available via the web, in a one click, easy to use, consumer friendly program. We are calling for a consolidation of all the current programs into a one-stop-shop called American 21.
We would like to take the over $5 billion dollars currently spent on disparate programs and make it work
for all American workers. Check out our ideas, called Prospering Together, on our website at
www.businessroundtable.org.
