A few days ago, a group of five Republican and five Democrat senators reached across the aisle to develop a compromise energy bill. Since then, the bill has been alternately praised and condemned by columnists, talk show hosts, editorial writers and bloggers. API examined the bill closely and found it lacking. As API President and CEO Red Cavaney puts it, the bill is "a classic case of one step forward, two steps back."
Mr. Cavaney sent a letter to Capitol Hill to respond to the Group of Ten proposal, Here is the full text of his letter:
